Weiss Kreuz Noir

I almost forgot to post about this!!!  Over the course of several months, I participated with several Weiss Kreuz fans to come up with some Noir themed stories/art over on LJ.  Our deadline was last month and it was great to see what everyone contributed.

I present the lovely community project of....

Cosplay Photo Story:  Shadow of a Night, by yours truly with a "down-on-his-luck but damn sexy Yohji Kudo."

Two stories from a Weimar-era Weiss Kreuz 'verse set in Berlin (1932).

Für Immer Verloren (part 1) (part 2
) by [info]daegaer + illustration by [info]indelicateink
Crawford sat at a table near the front of the dingy café, sipping the worst champagne he had ever had cause to drink. It was warm, almost completely flat and left a strange sour taste in his mouth.  [

Yohji tipped his hat down further over his eyes and slid into place next to a tall man in a light brown suit. The faded line that marked the edge of the platform stuttered into non-existence in front of him, and his eyes shifted past it to the tracks, gleaming grey and polished by the passage of metal wheels. Schwarz follows a broken trail that leads them to the least likely suspect: a stranger that makes them question their loyalties and plays a mean game of chess. *BIG HUGS*
[info]jlsigman, what a surprise!! Thank you for all the mint tea. ^__^ It looks delicious and I cant wait to try it! And more importantly, it really made my day today.

You...don't happen to have a wishlist or anything, do you? I can't guarantee that anything sent would get to you before Christmas, but it would be nice to have the option.

Thank you so much.

*tons of love*

Last push
Will be incredibly busy this week wrapping up final projects for classes. Kadaj has taken on the Kashmir project and the psych tests. Yazuu is tackling the book report reading and we still don't know who will be handling the term paper. Kyosuke will finish up the online class tomorrow with exception of the final book critique. Hopefully we won't go crazy...heh heh.

Can't wait to sell books back and are already looking for the cheapest price on all the books we will need next semester. Texts are going to kill us next term because two of the books required are brand new editions. Damn.

Still are not getting comment notifications, so, if we comment to you and you comment back, we may not see it. We're trying to back-track, but we may miss something until we get it sorted out. Looking into a different mail service...not happy with any of them really, but you know how it goes. We need comment notifs!

Now for a little Family Guy and R&R (downtime, how I adore you)...we'll catch up with you all next week.

Later gaters!

Watching "Meet the Natives USA" on the Travel Channel
If you have the Travel Channel and you want to learn simple wisdom and get a look at your society through the eyes of tribesmen from Tanna, I recommend this wholeheartedly.

One of the best quotes from this evening: "If only they took care of their people they way they take care of their dogs."

from the shores of the cosmic ocean, a mouse
Friday I went shopping with a friend and Kohl's had If You Give a Mouse a Cookie plush mice, and the profits go to charity. This was one of my favorite books as a kid! And I still love it. And while I bought him for my neice and intended to buy the book also and give her both, I have been snuggling him since.

I might have to buy another.

Otherwise, we (the Captain and I... and the mouse) watched the first episode of Carl Sagan's Cosmos, prompted by the nifty Symphony of Science songs/videos. We will be continuing the series!

Somewhat related, worked with my nephew on his science project. Was not as awesome as it should have been.

Now to do some things I've been meaning to do.

IJ...WTF?
Am I, like, the only one not getting comment notifications?

Don't make me have to get a different mail service just for you! *cries*

Like we're not busy enough/have enough to worry about right now.

Final push of the semester...two more weeks of school and technically the last one doesn't count because that is when everything is handed in. May be AWOL for most of the week...have to finish final projects.

Wanna know what wires me up?
No...not candy...

You know the squirrel from that movie "Hoodwinked" after he has had caffeine?

I found mine.

Dr. Pepper...oh yes... *manic vibrating giggles*

There's a small guy with a weedwacker in our computer
Srsly. We have a buzzing noise in out desktop that we are going to have to get looked at when the student money comes in. Omi spent some time with the casing open trying to figure out whether it was a fan motor going out or what, yo. While he was in there, he cleaned up the dusty stuff, wiped up the fans, etc, but when he hooked it up again he noticed that the noise may be coming from the actual hard-drive itself. So, he got the hours of the local computer doctors so that they can give it a free inspection. It could be the hard-drive or one of the rom-drives. Either way, it is something that we have to get repaired.

So, we have just spent the last couple hours removing all essential files - picture, music, schoolwork, executables, etc. - and dropping them on keys for safety, yo. Don't wanna take any chances of losing any of the important shit.

Figures this would happen at the end of the semester with two weeks and several big papers due, yo. But it is a really good thing that we have the mini otherwise we would have to use The Wers's computer and that would be a bummer all the way around, yo.

But we have decided that since we have to have it repaired anyway, we may as well upgrade it with more memory and maybe a new fan. Hey, why the heck not. The bite of all this is that we still won't be able to get it fixed for about three or four weeks. Oh well.

So, hey...pray for our desktop that it isn't anything too serious, yo?

I have to post this. I cannot resist! Both of them are absolutely hilarious! Possibly even if you are not a Boosh fan?

I am not a Twilight fan
Skepchick has a fantastic article that pretty much sums up my distaste for Twilight.

If you don't have the time to read the whole article, here is the short run down:

"The messages behind Twilight? Be weak, let your man protect you. Be careful, don’t get him angry. If he hurts you, it’s your fault. Abuse is part of life. Accept it. If he really loves you, he’ll try not to hurt you but don’t be surprised if he does. You probably deserve it. You are nobody without your man, so don’t bother trying."

Ew Moon: Why Twilight continues to hurt America…

Twilight fans beware...there are spoilers for New Moon. But I am sure that everyone has probably already seen it, right?

Oh my
Genesis the Being failed to put deodorant on this morning. I noticed this fact in the middle of history class when I raised my hand to add to discussion. It's not scorching with odor, but I am hoping that others do not notice very much. I am trying not to sit or stand real close to people out of courtesy. How embarrassing.

The body started the monthly also, which could account for some of the earlier stress-induced flail post and the emotions that went with it. This also accounts for the fact that I am looking for someone else to tackle the next class and the discussion on the group project. Maybe I can bribe someone with a promise to make meat buns over winter break?

Dear Semester,

You have dragged me through hell and back with all the reading, the papers, the sheer madness of what the instructors think that students should handle for one class...

So, listen up! I have a 9 abstracts, two book critiques, one term paper, a discussion, four tests and some key terms to finish in the next 14 days. Don't you dare throw any more crap at me until next semester or you will get no love.

Hell it is a miracle if I get out of this semester with my sanity in tact and grade that are at least passing.

I would like to be having a life back.

Sincerely over-worked,
Me.

You know you've reached a new level of crazy when you start to dream in novels...
So, my mom has pneumonia (I convinced her to go to the doctor because that's what I thought she had).

The cold that we've shared has escalated in her and I'm trying to avoid her fate. My cold is gone, it's my sinuses that are proving to be difficult in light of the recent snowfall.

I've gotten little sleep because of her snoring because the poor thing can't breathe at night. I've also been having f*cked up dreams because of it.

I've been dreaming in novels.

As in I'm READING entire novels that I've never read before in my sleep. After reading the passages in the book, the scene in my head turns into a movie that I watch. The one last night involved a male Cop who was chasing after a female killer and when she lured him to her home, she kept trying to seduce him, then sets him up to kill someone, causing him to shoot out of cold instinct. It's in that moment that DUN DUN DUN he realizes that the case he was following was of another serial killer that the female was a copycat and that killer was....him. He had lost his memories and in that cold blooded moment, he realized just who he was...then he shot himself. 0_____0!

Suspense-filled, but f*cked up.

There was another one that involved the Demon Librarian of Hell's Library at a conference talking about difficult patrons with the Angel Librarian of Heaven's Library. They proceeded to then discuss an interlibrary loan service with the Limbo Librarian by conference "phone" (it was a conch shell). 0_o;

Speaking of the library not in my dreams, things are going well in Library Land. I'll be taking charge of the Civil Service Test books in January at the downtown library. ^__^ I've also successfully ordered some books for my subject class and wrote my first monthly report.

I also got my first "nut". If someone asks you to look up the word 'commandment' in the dictionary, then proceeds to disagree with you about the dictionary meaning, then goes into a suitcase to pull out their bible, then have you find a passage, then proceed to read you that passage, then proceed to give you their interpretation....back away very slowly when another librarian rescues you, then run away while the patron's back is turned. (If you get me in person, ask me to tell the story. It's much better in person. Those who have heard some of my 'library stories' can attest to that, LOL)

For WSE, it seems that I may be teaching some beginner computer classes. I have to draft a class plan and figure out days to do such. Now that WSE has a projector and laptops, we can host some computer classes. I just want to test drive hooking up a laptop to the projector.

I've also been preparing holiday cards & gifts to mail out. My goal is to have most packages in the mail by the end of the week for international folks, with a few domestics as well. I just need time to personalize items. I've got everything is labeled. ^___^
