Otto Day!

Before I lose the chance to say it forever, happy Otto Day to anyone still left in the Gundam Wing fandom! If you haven't already read Fealty by Hope of Dawn, you truly must! And that's not just because she mentions me at the top of part 6, either. No, really. It's the sequel to The Prince and The Knight, which comprise the best Otto fics ever and one of the best Gundam Wing arcs of all time. No yaoi or romance, just good old-fashioned gen action adventure. One of my favorite moments is when Noin comes looking for Zechs in the hangar and Otto tells him, "Sir, your parrot is here." Bahahahahaha! Later, someone else comes looking for Zechs and Otto points him toward the hangar, saying, "Six feet of arrogance wearing a silver bucket on its head. You can't miss him." Banzai, Otto! Banzai!!

Glompies, everyone! Just a public service announcement for anyone who friended my zero_hour account. I had deleted that account a few days ago, until I heard that kinsugi needed an old free account that wouldn't have ads in the Lynx browse scheme. I then reactivated that account and gave it to her a few minutes ago, so if you have any posts that are locked for zero_hour you might want to edit your friend groups. I can't think of any such posts, actually, but better to be safe than sorry, eh? From now on, zero_hour will be kinsugi and not me. Everyone up to speed? Okey dokey!

Unfortunately, the wage for writing fanfiction is an indication that someone is reading it. Apparently no one's read any of my fanfics in months. Rather a pity since that's some of my best writing ever, but not surprising since Gundam Wing and Gravitation are such old fandoms. From now on I'm concentrating all my efforts on my novel about a futuristic Nazi America. It too will never be read, but at least I'll get paid for it if someone does. Wooties! I'll leave my sites up in case any old fans should happily stumble across them, but they'll no longer be updated:

Thank you for submitting your short story for our consideration in the Unspeakable Horror: From the Shadows of the Closet anthology. We gave Canvas a thorough read.

Overall, we really enjoyed Canvas. The story is very unsettling and takes sadomasochism to the extreme. You ably capture the dreamlike moments when Ethan is under the influence of the chloroform, and there were several times when I could feel my throat closing while reading this. That said, I'm not certain that the entire narrative structure works - particularly in the dialogue between the two Nazi officers. Too much of the story is told through their dialogue, and their conversation sounds too contemporary, too American. There is an excellent and profoundly disturbing story here; we'd recommend that you workshop this a bit more to strengthen the narrative structure a bit.

At this time, we're going to pass on this with our best wishes that your story finds a suitable home.

All the time. Doh!

I don't. I just keep writing, trying to keep in mind what the characters logically would do next if it were real life. That usually helps me move forward over a tough spot.

Type whenever possible, but write by hand when there's no other option. The entirety of Guilt was hand written since I didn't have access to a computer when I was writing it.

The fics that have gotten the most comments are Consequences, a Pet Shop of Horrors fic, and A Place of Magic, a Harry Potter fic, and those aren't really representative works. Waaaah!

Treize threw us out of his house the other day, so I had to move in with Duo. As a result, I've been trying to rebuild the self-destruct mechanism of Wing Zero. I've almost finished, but I'm missing a few of the parts. Perhaps Wu Fei still has some salvage from his gundam—I'll have to ask him later.

First thing this morning, Duo made breakfast. Ice cream and fish sticks. Why he thought he had to make breakfast for me, I don't know, but I wasn't there to eat it. I was in the bathroom throwing up. After breakfast, he watched three hours of a Bullwinkle marathon.

The next time I see Treize, I'm going to kill him.

Hn. The mail is here. I've just received an invitation to the wedding of Dorothy and Zechs. For some reason, I have to wear a pink tuxedo.

I must find Wu Fei...now.

Wanted: dark fics. Disturbing, affecting original dark fiction. Het, slash, Saffic and otherwise are all welcome, but no speculative fics, please. Somehow stories just aren't scary when they can't happen in real life, and the evil people do to one another is infinitely more horrifying than anything an alien, a vampire or a werewolf can do. Smex is a bonus, but not necessary...and definitely no smut for smut's sake. I'm seriously considering slapping together an ezine rather like Thaneros or Velvet Mafia, only without the speculative element and the pointless raunch. If people are willing to submit fics to VM without any compensation I should think they'd submit them anywhere. Does anyone know of such a magazine, publisher or archive already in existence? If so, I'll just go there instead of starting my own.

In other news, I'll give you the status of my outstanding ficcies since everyone else in my f-list is doing that for some reason. Wooties!

(the one where Treize buys Cathy's circus as a tax shelter and gets a little surprise) I'm about to start chapter 2 of this. No, really.

(the one where Wu Fei has a little problem with heroin) I'm working on chapter 5 right now. As we speak. Yesh.

The untitled fic at adorabibble
(the one where Zechs and Dorothy marry, then have the most bratty child in the universe, who for political reasons must take the throne of Cinq at the age of three and calls Howard and his daddy fucktards a lot) I'm trying to finish chapter 12 but it's slow going. I didn't think it was possible, but apparently even Aderton has limits to his brattiness. Waaaaah!

(the one where Mika dies and Tohma finally realizes what a complete asshole Eiri is...and Eiri finally realizes what a complete moron Shuichi is) I'm writing chapter 6 intermittently while simultaneously writing all the other fics. Why does no one believe me?

I went through my old fanfics from all four fandoms and found ten fics that don't depend on the fandom universe in order to make sense. They could therefore theoretically be rewritten as original fics before submitting them to ezines. I encourage the rest of you to do the same! We've put so much work into our fanfics (well, some of us have) that we deserve to be paid for our time and effort. So far I've submitted two of them, which are posted in my new journal, ederynofics, which I'm really just using as storage so I can see how these fics look as I'm rewriting them. If they both get accepted by their respective publishers I'll make $150!

And last but not least, I'll say it again. Tweak is the most brilliant philosopher of our time. Seriously.
